About

Intercity is a UK-based graphic design studio with a network of collaborators from the worlds of art, design, illustration, photography, digital media and beyond. Intercity applies its highly creative and considered approach across a range of areas including identity, editorial, digital, environmental and advertising. In addition to graphic design, the studio also specialises in curatorial and art-based work, including live art projects.

Originally founded by three friends in 2004, Intercity currently consists of remaining founder and creative director Nathan Gale, creative director William Hibberd and designer Trystan Thompson. The trio work together across two studios based in the South West of England.

Background

Nathan Gale was art director of leading communication arts journal, Creative Review, for almost ten years. In that time he worked with some of the best creative minds in the industry - from designer Peter Saville, to advertising agency Mother. He has been on the judging panels of numerous awards, including D&AD, and has lectured at various institutions around the country. He has also written for, or been interviewed about his work by, publications such as Étapes, Fairy Tale and Vice magazines. Over the years, Gale’s work has been recognised and awarded by his peers. His work for Creative Review can be found in D&AD annuals, was nominated as one of the Design Museum’s Designs of the Year, and was awarded a Silver at the Art Directors’ Club awards in New York.

William Hibberd is a multi-faceted creative with over eight years’ experience in the design industry. During this time he’s turned his hand to digital and editorial design, art direction, project management and web development. He has also worked on projects for clients such as The National Trust, Campaign and Nike.

Trystan Thompson is a graphic designer with skills in animation and motion graphics. He joined Intercity after graduating from the University of the West of England in 2015. During his studies there, he was awarded Best Design Project for his Spart concept at the Royal Society of Arts Student Design Awards.
